Roberta Style Lee Inspirational Women Series Podcast Ep005 - Interview with Allison Baver (Part 1 of 2)

I was absolutely chuffed to bits when super busy and the amazingly talented Allison Baver agreed to come onto the Inspirational Women Series. She is known for many things but most notably her Olympic career as a short track speed skater, she then moved into media work, then modelling and most recently started to turn her hand to fashion design.

Allison demonstrates throughout her career that's she's got transferable skills. She's also an amazing example of how to reinvent yourself and why we shouldn’t believe that talent is limited to just one skill set. There is no reason why you cannot be great at 3-things! Having Allison on the Roberta Style Lee podcast was a great honour and 30-minutes of pure gold. We talk about what confidence means, looking good and feeling good and why embracing your femininity is empowering.

In the interview we talk about the importance of planning and how a positive mindset is essential for success. We discuss the good times, the bad times and Allison share's her tips on mindset and how to make a comeback after a near career ending injury.

I've always been  interested in the way athletes think and that curiosity is totally founded. Allison reveals a fundamental difference in her mindset. In order to be different and achieve great things you have to be willing to work hard and be super committed to the end goal!

I know you'll love this interview as much as I did.

Enjoy!

Roberta Style Lee Inspirational Women Series Podcast Ep004 - Interview with Emma Heathcote-James

I was so excited to get some time with Emma Heathcote-James and interview her on my podcast. She's a super busy, award-winning entrepreneur (and female force of nature) - so getting an hour in with her was no joke!  This woman means BUSINESS!

Emma joins me on the Inspirational Women Series and talks about her fantastic journey from creating soap on the kitchen worktop to wholesale distribution and winning a string of awards.

We talk about her challenges, what drives her and how she copes with living her life at 100 miles an hour. Emma reveals what keeps her happy, healthy, confident and sane - she also shares lots of great tips on how to compete as a small independent brand against the likes of large businesses such as Procter and Gamble.

This interview was very inspiring for me. There is something very motivating about speaking to someone with as much fire and gusto as Emma. She may be busy but she also knows how important it is to take proper care of herself, why that is critical for success and why good health is wealth.

I applaud her for everything she does and all she has achieved. What a women!

Her company, The Little Soap Company produces natural, chemical free soap for humans and pets. They have a range of interesting products worth checking out if you are looking for some ethical, sustainable Christmas gifts this year... I haven't done a review of the soaps yet, but I am certain they will be good quality.

Well, that's nearly it from me. As always I would love to hear your thoughts - just hit reply to this email to provide me with any feedback. Please also take the time to ❤️ the track on Soundcloud if you like it. After the official release, the interview will be on YouTube too which I would love for you to share!

Stay fab.

The Podcast Inspires Me to Be a Better Version Of Myself

One little seed...

I had this little idea. I thought I might start interviewing women that inspired me - and give these women who are on their journey (and doing amazing things) a platform to share their stories. What started off as a very humble idea has very quickly grown into an regular Podcast series.

I am honoured to be the host of the Inspirational Women Series and I cannot tell you how much these interviews help inspire me and boost my confidence. It's just so incredibly moving to hear real stories, real challenges and discover real outcomes and what steps these women had to take to get over the bad times and keep up the good times. It fires me up. It just makes me feel alive and ready to take a bigger step forward - it truly makes a difference. If these interviews have the power to do this for me, I am know they can help inspire many more women.

Episode 001 with Anne Threlfall

Watching My Idea Blossom

So now I am embracing this beautiful journey and letting the podcast grow into something more beautiful and inspiring that I could ever of imaged. It's still really new, I only started the Roberta Style Lee Podcast a few months ago, right now its currently on Soundcloud and Youtube. I decided to target women as both my audience and my guests to be interviewed on the show. I thought about what has inspired me over the years and it always comes back to people. Its not always about the big cats either - I find inspiration in the simplest of things and humblest of people.

Episode 002 with Lara Sans Gill & Julie Kerdovac

Keeping My Podcast True To My Values

I decided to refine things even further and keep the podcast completely inline with my own values and the RSL values too. So this means all interviewees will be:
  • Women who have survived testing times
  • Women in business
  • Women who have launched ethical and sustainable brands
  • Women in fashion who care about doing 'good' and helping make a difference
  • Women who care about helping other women
Basically, it's a whole lotta girl power - or more aptly me trying to bottle up 'the power of the female force''.  There is an amazing energy that flows when women come together to support one another.

Basically it's like a chat - I ask some questions and then we talk through how hard it is can be to be a women in today's society and juggling life. We discuss the good times, the bad times, what makes them happy, confident and sane. After every interview I go away with ideas and tips on how to better myself and stay strong.

Episode 003 with Ansje from Jakes Boost

All the female honesty, positivity and empathy that comes together throughout this series is so damn inspiring... I just LOVE this project.

A Big Thank You To My First Podcast Guests

I wanted to give a shout out to 4 very special ladies who came onto the show to share their stories on the podcast. These were my early supporters and they were very patient with me whilst I fumbled my way through early hosting, editing and publishing issues.

A big thanks to Anne Threlfall founder of Elkie & Ark, Julie Kerdevac and best friend Lara Sans Gill the co-founders of AmaElla and Ansje the female half of co-founded brand Jakes Boost.  These ladies were just a few of the women that are on the podcast, all of which have been equally supportive and patient.

Coming Up Next On The Podcast

Coming up on the show I've already got more amazing interviews captured and scheduled for release, here are a few them:

Get Ready To Be Inspired! The Inspirational Women Series Podcast is LIVE!! 💕

The Inspirational Women (Audio) Series is one of the most exciting projects I have worked on yet - and I am delighted to be able to share it with the world today (Monday 17th October). The series premiered at the weekend to subscribers of the newsletter and to those who have signed up for the private members club - and I have received great feedback so far.

So now it's over to you. Have a listen let me know what you think.
Episode 001 | The Inspirational Women Series An Interview with Anne Threlfall from Elkie & Ark

I feel incredibly honoured to kick off my podcast launch with the amazingly talented Anne Threlfall. She is the founder of a new ethical fair trade luxury linen company Elkie & Ark, a wife, a mum, a doer, an inspirer, a speaker and a writer. Anne has been published in the Huffington Post, Collective Hub, Fairfax, Pacific Magazines and Emap publications.  She has a masters in applied finance and a bachelor of science (specialising in environmental science) - so she's one smart cookie - and on top of all of that she's beautiful, funny, has a massive heart and cares about giving back.

I hope you enjoy the interview and hearing Anne's story as much as I did.

Stay fab!
